Everton Women have announced top scorer Chloe Kelly will be leaving the club upon the expiry of her contract.

The striker has opted not to renew her stay with the Blues, despite the club's best efforts to tie her down. The news will come as a shock after Kelly enjoyed a strong 2019/20 season, netting nine goals in 12 Women's Super League appearances (via Everton).

Willie Kirk's side finished fifth in the table after the WSL season was called to an early end and decided via a points-per-game system. The decision saw Chelsea crowned champions and Liverpool relegated into the Championship.

It has not been made clear whether Kelly has another club lined up, but Toffees fans are disappointed in the news and are sad to see her depart the club. Replying to the official club news, one fan has said it's a 'massive blow for the team', as they must now find a suitable replacement for her threat in attack.
