Many Everton fans have been buzzing over transfer links with Sergio Romero as ESPN reported that the Merseyside club are interested in signing the Manchester United goalkeeper in the summer window.
However, according to the outlet, Carlo Ancelotti’s team will face competition from fellow Premier League rivals Chelsea and Leeds United for his signature.
With a rather impressive 12 clean sheets in 17 games for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side in all competitions in the 2019/20 season, coupled with the concession of only five goals (via Transfermarkt), Romero may well be a good addition at Goodison Park.
Current Toffees number one Jordan Pickford has been heavily criticised for making multiple errors and as such has been linked with a possible move away to Stamford Bridge, which could pave the way for the Argentine international should he wish to sign.
Does Romero start for Everton over Pickford?
Romero also has a whole host of trophies to his name, as per Transfermarkt, and so could provide a winning mentality at Goodison Park.
These Everton supporters were buzzing upon reading the link to the 33-year old on Twitter, with one fan labelling him as ‘class’:
Yes. In a heartbeat yes!

All for it. Sergio would be strong competition for the inconsistent Pickford. @EvertonBlueArmy .

Romero is actually a class keeper, be happy with that

He’s a fantastic keeper. He has stood in brilliantly for De Gea even been better than him in recent years imo. I’d take him all day long.
