Loads of Everton fans have been gushing on Twitter as the Merseyside club have reportedly opened up talks about a possible transfer for Thiago Silva, according to Nicolo Schira (via The Gwladys Street).
Would Silva be a good signing for Everton?
As per the journalist, the Paris Saint Germain central defender will be a free agent by the time the transfer window comes along, leaving an opportunity for Carlo Ancelotti to potentially swoop in for his signature.
Indeed, Silva has enjoyed a rather illustrious club career so far, winning the Ligue 1 no less than seven times with PSG whilst also obtaining several other titles in his trophy cabinet including Serie A and even the Copa America with Brazil(per Transfermarkt).
However, being 35 years of age, one might question whether he has the capabilities to play in the Premier League, but his stats so far in the 2019/20 season go a long way in showing this.
The Brazilian has won 3.7 duels per UEFA Champions League game, and has also averaged 3.5 clearances, 1.5 tackles and 1.3 interceptions, as Silva helped his team collect a relatively impressive four clean sheets in six matches in Europe’s elite competition, according to Sofascore.
With his experience, perhaps it is rather unsurprising that these EFC supporters would like the club to sign him up, with one suggesting his agent must be Richarlison – who is of course his international team mate.

Be good to have an experienced head at the back who knows what it takes to win. Too many times we have folded under pressure in matches and unable to see them out. Plus dont think we have had a commanding defender for a few years who can organise the defence on the pitch. #EFC

All day. Couple of season's. The experience and leadership he would bring would be invaluable to likes of Holgate and younger players. Not to mention hes a 'name'. Having him, and Ancelotti of course, would attract more!

I think he would be an excellent short term signing, proven winner, proven leader, just hope it’s an agreed wages relevant to his age and not a Walsh style wage. I’m sure with Marcel being thrifty it will be reasonable
