Lots of Everton fans have been hailing a transfer revelation from Marcel Brands, which was relayed on Twitter by Paul Joyce.
As per a tweet from The Times journalist, Brands confirmed that James Rodriguez was signed for no fee in the summer window in what now looks to be a “superb bit of business,” as one supporter below put it.
Originally, the deal was reported to be worth £20m and later narrowed down to £12m (BBC), but it appears even that was wide of the mark.
Will Rodriguez be a success at Everton?
Being such a big name having played for the likes of Bayern Munich as well as Los Blancos, in addition to his reputation at international level for Colombia, to get him on a free has been a very good bit of business by the Merseyside club.
The 29 year-old has scored three goals and made a further five assists in 14 games in all competitions so far in the 2020/21 term for the Toffees (Transfermarkt), showing the instant impact that he has had on his new team.
Everton fan reaction to Rodriguez update
These Blues supporters hailed the transfer update from Joyce on Twitter:
“To get a player of his quality on a free is incredible business and what a signing he’s been. Genuinely world class footballer and a joy to watch.”
“Best transfer in history”
“Absolute snip at that price.”
