Many Everton fans have been raging as RMC Sport (via The Gwladys Street) reported that Thiago Silva is demanding a wage of £188,000 a week to sign for the Merseyside club, which equates to a £9.8 million over the course of the year.

As per the outlet, north London clubs Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are also targeting the central defender in the upcoming summer transfer window.

However, the salary that the 35-year old is demanding is relatively excessive considering the current wage structure at the Toffees at the moment.

As per Sportrac, Bernard and Yerry Mina are currently the Blues' top earners as both bank £120,000 a week from their current deals, but Silva is reportedly demanding more than a 50 per cent increase on that figure.

The Brazilian is not getting any younger and it is arguably a risk to pay him so much given his age and lack of experience playing football in England. Indeed despite his illustrious career, he has yet to play in the Premier League (Transfermarkt).

As a consequence, these EFC supporters raged on Twitter after reading the news, with one even suggesting that they would rather have another veteran centre-back, Phil Jagielka, back at the club instead...
