Many Everton fans are reacting to the news that striker Cenk Tosun will likely leave on loan before the transfer window shuts tomorrow.
The Turkey international has only managed to score 11 goals and provide just six assists in 58 matches in total across all competitions over the last four consecutive seasons (Transfermarkt). This highlights that his spell at the Merseyside club has not really worked out.
This season, he has only made five appearances in the division, with them all coming from the bench (WhoScored). The total minutes he has played in these games is 55 minutes, which truly emphasises that Carlo Ancelotti does not deem him good enough to make a difference at the Toffees.
Therefore, such a move would probably benefit all parties. The forward gets to play more consistently elsewhere, whilst the Toffees get rid of some of the £60,000-a-week wages they currently have to pay the player.
Here is what Everton fans said following the update:
“Good luck to him to be fair, he’s never really been given a chance and when he has a large group of our fans have just **** on him anyway. Give him the chance to build his confidence and come back a better player and prove the doubters wrong. Good luck lad.”
“We could do with someone better but good luck to him”
“Really wanted him to come good. Just not good enough”
“No great loss, but the last couple of games have demonstrated that we could do with another striker to augment DCL.”
