Lots of Everton fans have slammed a proposed transfer swap involving Mason Holgate and John Stones as Football Insider reported that Manchester City are looking into the idea in the upcoming summer window.
Who would you have at centre-back for Everton?
As per the outlet, Holgate has been valued at £40 million by the Merseyside club after he signed an improved deal earlier this season that would keep him at Goodison Park until 2025.
On the other hand, City are apparently looking to recoup as much of the £47.5 million that they paid the Toffees four years ago for Stones as possible and are looking to offload him, with a potential swap deal with his fellow English compatriot in question.
Comparing the two central defenders in the Premier League so far in the 2019/20 season, Holgate has averaged more tackles, interceptions, clearances and blocks than Stones, according to Whoscored.
Given these stats and the added fact that Holgate may have more potential being three years younger, it is perhaps not a surprise that these EFC supporters slammed the link on Twitter:
Absolutely not. He’s our future captain, see ya 👋🏻
