Michael Ball believes Everton could sign Euro 2020 star Denzel Dumfries for as little as £12million this summer.

Toffees boss Rafa Benitez, who was named as Carlo Ancelotti's replacement after the Italian departed in favour of a return to Real Madrid last month, is looking to strengthen his squad ahead of the Premier League's big kick-off.

Dumfries is among those on Benitez's wishlist with reports earlier this month saying a bid was expected from them soon, and the PSV Eindhoven right-back may be seen as a potential long-term replacement for Seamus Coleman.

The 25-year-old shone at Euro 2020, with the Netherlands international's bombing runs down the right flank catching the eye.

He also bagged his first two Netherlands goals in the group stage wins over Ukraine and Austria.

Rudy Galetti has suggested Everton are nearing an agreement with PSV for Dumfries, who made 41 appearances at club level last season.

Ball, who featured for the Goodison Park-based side during his playing career, thinks the Toffees could be set to bag a bargain.

Speaking exclusively to The Transfer Tavern, he said: "The Netherlands had a very disappointing Euros but he was the star man. He was the one who came away with a lot of credit and he had a fantastic tournament. Hopefully that's his level. If he stays at that level and improves even more, he'd be a fantastic addition at the right price.

"PSV were wanting £35million a couple of years ago and big teams like Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich were looking at this guy. For one reason or another, they didn't press the buzzer on him.

"Now, I think Everton could snatch him for £12million or £15million. He could be a fantastic buy."
