# Everton: Marco Silva vows to support Jean-Philippe Gbamin

**Marco Silva has vowed to support Everton midfielder Jean-Philippe Gbamin through his tough moments, as reported by [Everton’s official website](https://www.evertonfc.com/news/1335394/silva-makes-vow-to-gbamin).**

Just days after impressing against Watford, the 23-year-old sustained a [**quadriceps injury**](https://www.evertonfc.com/news/1335394/silva-makes-vow-to-gbamin) in training that will see him out of action for a minimum of eight weeks.

Speaking about the summer signing, Silva [**said**](https://www.evertonfc.com/news/1335394/silva-makes-vow-to-gbamin): “It is up to us to give him all the support we can, not just to recover him as fast as possible – but the daily support for him to be optimistic about the situation, even in a tough moment. I am 100% involved in the process.”

Gbamin [**admitted to struggling**](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league/everton/everton-jean-philippe-gbamin-admits-to-struggling-against-crystal-palace/) in his first Everton appearance, after coming on as a substitute for the injured Andre Gomes just before half time in the 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace.

There were signs he was off the pace and unable to keep up with the game, as he was dispossessed on 2 occasions, while he managed 1 tackle and 1 clearance, as per [**WhoScored**](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1375931/Live/England-Premier-League-2019-2020-Crystal-Palace-Everton).

Even though the Ivory Coast international still wasn’t the best on the ball against Watford, with his pass success rate being just [**67%**](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1375941/Live/England-Premier-League-2019-2020-Everton-Watford), he was very effective defensively.

During that game he managed [**3 tackles**](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1375941/Live/England-Premier-League-2019-2020-Everton-Watford), 3 clearances and 1 interception, while also winning 2 aerial duels – this improvement had seen his WhoScored rating go up from 6.24 to 7.28.

It is definitely a blow for both Gbamin and Everton that the 23-year-old will be out of action for such an extended period.

The timing of the injury also isn’t great, as he has just joined a new club, so Silva is right to focus on helping to take care of his player mentally while he is out of action.
