# Everton: Paul Brown casts doubt over Moise Kean’s future

**Journalist Paul Brown has delivered his verdict on the future of out-of-favour [Everton](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/everton-fc-news/) striker Moise Kean.**

### The lowdown: Flattered to deceive

Signed for £25.1m from Juventus in 2019 ([BBC](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49214067)), the Italy international arrived on Merseyside with the world seemingly at his feet having made a successful transition from youth starlet to first-team performer in his homeland.

Following a disappointing debut campaign which yielded just [four direct goal involvements](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/moise-kean/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/364135/plus/0/verein/29) in 29 [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) outings, the young striker was sent out on loan to Paris Saint-Germain, where he appeared to recapture some form with [13 goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/moise-kean/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/364135) in 26 Ligue 1 appearances.

However, after just two more fleeting cameos for the Toffees, the 22-year-old was [loaned](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/12961/12394075/everton-transfer-news-moise-kean-rejoins-juventus-on-two-year-loan-with-24m-obligation-to-buy) back to Juventus last September for two years with an obligation to buy, but he now faces an uncertain future…

### The latest: Kean’s Everton future in doubt

Speaking to [GiveMeSport](https://www.givemesport.com/88016025-everton-34m-star-doesnt-want-future-at-goodison-park), journalist Brown dismissed the notion of the [12-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/moise-kean/nationalmannschaft/spieler/364135/verein_id/3376) Italy ace ever returning to Goodison Park.

He explained: “It’s clear he hasn’t got a future at Everton, and I don’t think he wants one either, I think that’s also quite clear.

“The move didn’t work out for him and the man that brought him in, Marcel Brands has gone and it’s a completely different club now.”

### The verdict: Not worth it

Lauded as [‘fearless’](https://theathletic.com/2193852/2020/11/13/moise-kean-everton-psg-loan/) by Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel, [under whom](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/moise-kean/leistungsdatentrainer/spieler/364135/plus/0/saison/2020/verein/583/trainer_id/7471) Kean played at PSG, there is certainly a top-level player waiting to be unleashed in the 22-year-old. However, seemingly [unwanted](https://www.gazzetta.it/Calcio/Calciomercato/Juventus/05-05-2022/mercato-juventus-nodo-riscatto-morata-kean-440347282535.shtml) by Juventus, he is now stuttering along in a career which is in danger of stagnating at a very early stage.

During 2021/22 the Italian [scored six times and provided three assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/moise-kean/leistungsdaten/spieler/364135) in 44 appearances across all competitions, another below-par campaign from a young forward with an abundance of talent.

Couple these on-field struggles when it comes to output with the [fallout](https://talksport.com/football/643401/duncan-ferguson-destroying-moise-keane-everton-substitution-manchester-united/#:~:text=Harsh%3F-,Duncan%20Ferguson%20accused%20of%20'destroying'%20Moise%20Kean%20but%20Everton%20caretaker,defends%20substitution%20against%20Manchester%20United&text=Duncan%20Ferguson%20insists%20his%20decision,United%20was%20'nothing%20personal'.) when replaced by Duncan Ferguson against Manchester United in 2019, and Frank Lampard may be best served to avoid bringing a disenchanted Kean back to Merseyside, even in light of the [possibility](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10671411/Everton-forced-sell-star-strikers-Dominic-Calvert-Lewin-Richarlison-summer.html) of losing frontline duo Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
