# Everton: Toffees considering Nuno Espirito Santo as next manager

**Nuno Espirito Santo is one of the options being considered by [Everton](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/everton-fc-news/) to replace Frank Lampard as manager, according to [90min](https://www.90min.com/posts/marcelo-bielsa-keen-to-become-new-everton-manager).**

### The Lowdown: Lampard sacked

The Toffees [sacked](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/63610629) the 44-year-old on Monday after he won just [three of 20](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/frank-lampard/leistungsdatenDetail/trainer/60805/saison_id/2022/wettbewerb_id/GB1) games in the [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) so far this season, and the search has now begun for his successor.

Marcelo Bielsa initially [emerged](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-11668311/Marcelo-Bielsa-held-talks-Everton-chief-Farhad-Moshiri-succeeding-Frank-Lampard.html) as frontrunner for the vacancy, although [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-marcelo-bielsa-rejects-everton-approach/) subsequently reported that the Argentine has turned down the opportunity to take over, so Everton owner Farhad Moshiri may need to turn his attentions elsewhere.

### The Latest: Nuno an option for Everton

According to [90min](https://www.90min.com/posts/marcelo-bielsa-keen-to-become-new-everton-manager), Bielsa had been the Toffees’ top target, but they are also considering a plethora of other options, including former Wolves boss Nuno.

The 48-year-old is currently the manager of Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad, having previously been in charge of both Wolves and Tottenham Hotspur.

### The Verdict: Could be an ideal candidate

Nuno already has admirers within the Everton squad, with Conor Coady lauding him as ‘[incredible](https://www.evertonfc.com/video/2800620)‘ during their time working together at Wolves. The Old Gold achieved [consecutive](https://www.premierleague.com/clubs/38/Wolverhampton-Wanderers/season-history) seventh-placed finishes under the Portuguese tactician after he guided them to promotion from the second tier in 2018, while he also led them to the [quarter-finals](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2020/08/11/wolves-vs-sevilla-europa-league-quarter-final-live-score-latest/) of the Europa League two years later before elimination at the hands of eventual trophy winners Sevilla.

Currently [19th](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/premier-league/tabelle/wettbewerb/GB1/saison_id/2022) in the top flight, Everton are in dire need of someone to come in and revitalise the club, with the long-term goal still likely to be qualification for European football, and Nuno has a proven track record of being able to progress clubs to that level within the Premier League.
