# Everton plotting move for talented Premier League star

***The Everton fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are already looking towards the future…***

Maarten Stekelenburg as been somewhat of a revelation at Everton in recent weeks, with his performance at the weekend drawing the attention of everyone in the Football Transfer Tavern.

His heroics between the sticks were a standout from the weekend fixtures, with his two penalty saves a particular highlight.

The Dutch goalkeeper has been in great form, but his arrival was always considered a short-term fix.

At 34-years-old, Stekelenburg is nearing the end of his career – and the Everton fans in the Tavern are desperate for Koeman to plan for the future.

They could be in luck, as Everton are [reportedly](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/1983872/jordan-pickford-sunderland-goalkeeper-eyed-up-by-everton-to-become-their-long-term-no-1-stopper/) eyeing a move for one of the Premier League’s latest breakout stars.

[According to the Sun](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/1983872/jordan-pickford-sunderland-goalkeeper-eyed-up-by-everton-to-become-their-long-term-no-1-stopper/), Everton are keen on Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, who has emerged as a key part of the David Moyes’ first team so far this season.

They [add](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/1983872/jordan-pickford-sunderland-goalkeeper-eyed-up-by-everton-to-become-their-long-term-no-1-stopper/) that whilst Everton are leading the chase, David Moyes is unlikely to want to give up his young star – and so it will likely take a large fee for the Black Cats to make a deal.

Our landlord thinks that this deal could prove to be a wonderful piece of business by Ronald Koeman.

A goalkeeping rebuild is, obviously, essential – and Pickford represents an excellent long-term solution.

He knows the Premier League well, and he could man the sticks for the best part of a decade for Koeman’s men.

Pickford has already made 5 appearances so far this season, and looks set to battle it out to be Sunderland first choice this season.
