# Everton: Davide Frattesi offer made

**[Everton](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/everton-fc-news/) are interested in a move for Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi in the summer transfer window, according to reports from Italy.**

### The Lowdown: Midfielder wanted in January

The Toffees may have shown signs of resurgence in the early weeks of [Sean Dyche](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tag/sean-dyche/)‘s tenure, beating [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) leaders Arsenal in his first game in charge, but it has still been a hugely disappointing season so far as they sit [18th](https://www.whoscored.com/Regions/252/Tournaments/2/England-Premier-League) in the table.

It was [claimed](https://www.givemesport.com/88097286-everton-transfer-update-frank-lampard-farhad-moshiri-signing-goodison-park/) prior to the January transfer window that then-Everton manager Frank Lampard wanted to strengthen the midfield as a priority, but with no new incomings at all last month, it could still be a problem position at Goodison Park.

It could be that a new signing in that area takes precedence this summer, and one potential addition has emerged.

### The Latest: Everton make offer for Frattesi

According to Italian outlet [Tutto Juve](https://www.tuttojuve.com/calciomercato/frattesi-la-juve-lo-segue-ma-632449) \[via [Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/club-offers-everton-others-star-blues-can-offer-much-competition/)\], Sassuolo ‘have offers’ from Everton for Frattesi, as well as from fellow Premier League clubs Leicester City and Brighton.

Meanwhile, Juventus are also interested in snapping up the 23-year-old, although the Toffees would be willing to ‘offer much more’. The Bianconeri are only willing to go as high as €25m (£22.2m), which falls some way short of Sassuolo’s €35m (£31m) valuation of the player.

### The Verdict: Could be a strong signing

Frattesi could be a really strong prospective addition for Dyche this summer, having [started 21 Serie A matches](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/331425/Show/Davide-Frattesi) for Sassuolo this season and scored six goals along the way.

Despite playing as a defensive/central midfielder, he often likes to maraud into the attacking third of the pitch, as can be seen from his goal record. Also, as per [FBref](https://fbref.com/en/players/2a7d27c1/Davide-Frattesi), he ranks among the top 6% of positional peers in Europe’s five main leagues for non-penalty xG, shots taken and touches in the opposition penalty area.

He has [won four caps](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/davide-frattesi/profil/spieler/394300) for Italy to date, further outlining his pedigree, along with being [described](https://www.empireofthekop.com/2021/12/09/exclusive-fabrizio-romano-opens-up-on-super-talented-serie-a-star-who-reminds-me-of-ex-liverpool-target-nicolo-barella/) as ‘super talented’ and ‘very interesting’ by Fabrizio Romano.

With Idrissa Gueye now [33](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-everton/startseite/verein/29) years of age and Abdoulaye Doucoure [30](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-everton/startseite/verein/29), fresh legs appear to be needed in Everton’s midfield, and Frattesi could be the man to provide just that.

While the Italian’s aforementioned goalscoring ability from midfield catches the eye, he has also averaged [two tackles](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/331425/Show/Davide-Frattesi) per game in Serie A this season, showing that he is a player with a variety of welcome attributes.
