# Everton: Journalist admits concern regarding Jordan Pickford exit

**[Everton](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/everton-fc-news/) selling [Jordan Pickford](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tag/jordan-pickford/) would be a worrying sign that they are struggling financially, according to an update from journalist Paul Brown.**

### The Lowdown: Pickford linked with exit

The 28-year-old has been one of the Blues’ standout players throughout 2022, playing a big part in them avoiding relegation from the [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) last season.

Pickford has been [linked](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/everton-fc-news/january-transfer-news-pickford-premier-league/) with a move away from Goodison Park recently however, with a summer exit reportedly on the cards once the 2022/23 campaign ends.

It would be the second summer in a row they lose a high profile player after Richarlison’s move to Tottenham, so the hope is that the England international stays put.

### The Latest: Journalist worried about finances

Speaking to [*Give Me Sport*](https://www.givemesport.com/88098903-everton-transfer-news-giant-warning-sign-goodison-park), Brown said that Pickford moving on next summer would suggest that Everton have no choice but to generate funds through sales:

> “I think the uncertainty is unhelpful to everyone. If Everton want Pickford to stay, they should get that done as quickly as possible. There’s no reason why they shouldn’t.
>
> “If they were to sell Pickford, I think it would be a giant warning sign that they really are struggling for cash and that the ambitions might not be the same as they were.”

### The Verdict: Concerning time at Everton

There is no doubt that this is a concerning time for Everton, with results on the pitch hugely disappointing and the pressure building on Frank Lampard all the time.

Losing Pickford would further weaken the Blues, with the Englishman [described](https://www.goodisonnews.com/2022/09/05/leon-osman-hails-outstanding-jordan-pickford-for-saves-during-everton-draw-v-liverpool/) as ‘outstanding’ by Leon Osman and winning three Man of the Match awards from [*WhoScored*](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/110189/Show/Jordan-Pickford) this season.

The hope is that the goalkeeper remains at Everton beyond the summer, and if he is sold for financial reasons, it will be a big worry for supporters, especially at a time when their new stadium is being built.
