# Everton: Yerry Mina backed to leave Goodison Park

**[Everton](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/everton-fc-news/) centre-back Yerry Mina is looking for ‘potential exit routes’ out of the club, according to a significant update from transfer expert Dean Jones.**

### The Lowdown: Mina’s Everton career fading

The Colombian’s spell at Goodison Park has been an up-and-down one, with injuries too often halting his progress and performances not always consistent.

Mina has only made [one appearance](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/318432/Show/Yerry-Mina) in the [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) so far this season and has fallen behind James Tarkowski and Conor Coady in the pecking order.

The 28-year-old’s current Everton deal [expires](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/yerry-mina/profil/spieler/289446) at the end of this campaign and it looks as though his exit is inevitable.

### The Latest: Defender keen on exit

Speaking to [*GiveMeSport*](https://www.givemesport.com/88075247-everton-120k-a-week-star-looking-for-exit-at-goodison-park), Jones claimed that Mina wants to leave the Toffees in the near future:

> “You understand why this is on the cards at the moment, I think his representatives are looking at potential exit routes.”

### The Verdict: Right time to leave

Mina is a good player who can be dominant on his day – former Everton defender Michael Ball has [called](https://www.world-today-news.com/compliments-to-yerry-mina-when-hes-fit-hes-a-monster/) him ‘fantastic’ and a ‘monster’ – but January or next summer feels like the ideal time for him to enjoy a fresh challenge.

As mentioned, Tarkowski and Coady have forged a good understanding at centre-back – Everton have only [conceded 12 goals](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/table) in as many league games this season – and it is hard to see that pairing being broken up.

Whether or not Mina departs in January or the summer remains to be seen, but it would now be a huge surprise if he was offered a new contract at Goodison Park.
