# Everton: Toffees eye young PSG defender Colin Dagba

**It’s been a slow start to the season for Everton, so will they try to strengthen in January?**

Despite arguably having the strongest full-back depth in the Premier League on paper, Everton’s defensive woes this season are apparent, but[reports from Paris United](https://parisunited.fr/lequipe/le-mercato/everton-interesse-par-colin-dagba/) suggest they are going to splash out on PSG wonderkid Colin Dagba.

Dagba, who has played three times for the Paris club this season, could potentially be a long-term option with Seamus Coleman ageing and loanee Djibril Sidibe yet to wholly convince, he could be the answer to a Toffees conundrum.

[According to WhoScored.com](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/361283/History/Colin-Dagba), Dagba holds an average successful passing rate of 93.9% in 290 minutes for the French champions – highlighting his comfort and composure on the ball at such a young age.

This season, he’s not far off matching Coleman in terms of tackles per game ([0.9](https://www.whoscored.com/PlayerComparison) to [0.8](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/361283/Show/Colin-Dagba)) while making the same amount of interceptions and has outdone both the Irishman and Sidibie for key passes per game ([1.3](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/361283/Show/Colin-Dagba)), so does look a decent prospect who can offer something going both ways.

Whether or not this French youngster is the solution to Everton’s problems at the back remains to be seen. Indeed, the team haven’t kept a clean sheet since the early weeks of the campaign and merely signing a young full-back may not be the best way to completely tighten up.

Still, in terms of a successor for Coleman, Dagba does appear to have the natural tools to fill such a role, so it could potentially be a good move for the Toffees as long as more is done to shore things up.
