# Everton: Toffees eyeing Southampton striker Che Adams

**The Athletic journalist Jacob Tanswell has revealed that [Everton](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/everton-fc-news/) are eyeing a potential move for Che Adams.**

### The Lowdown: Striker wanted

Frank Lampard is desperately searching around for a new striker after the injury to Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and the Goodison Park outfit have already let go of Richarlison, Ellis Simms and Nathan Broadhead this window.

The likes of [Viktor Gyokeres](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/everton-fc-news/coventry-transfer-news-gyokeres-premier-league/) and [Serhou Guirassy](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/everton-fc-news/rennes-transfer-news-guirassy-striker-premier-league-2/) are just two names who have been mentioned recently as potential arrivals, as the Merseyside club will be expected to fill the Calvert-Lewin void before the window closes.

### The Latest: Adams eyed

Taking to Twitter, [Tanswell](https://twitter.com/J_Tanswell/status/1557390687901024257) has revealed that the Toffees are ‘exploring’ a loan-to-buy offer for Adams, but Southampton have publicly stated that he is not for sale:

*“Understand Everton are exploring a loan-to-buy offer for Che Adams. #SaintsFC’s public stance is he’s not for sale but privately club open to letting Adams go, using funds for a new striker. Situation ongoing.”*

Expanding in his article with Patrick Boyland for [The Athletic](https://theathletic.com/3495120/2022/08/10/southampton-che-adams-everton/), Tanswell added that an approach is thought to have been made ‘in the last few days’, and privately the Saints would be ‘willing’ to sanction his departure.

### The Verdict: Sign

A loan-to-buy deal for Adams presents little risk to the Blues, and so they should be looking to get this deal done.

Hailed as ‘[terrific](https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/20000199.rangers-legend-ally-mccoist-praises-southamptons-che-adams/)‘ by Scottish football legend Ally McCoist, he has a respectable [six goals in 19 games](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/che-adams/nationalmannschaft/spieler/346779) for Scotland, and [75](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/che-adams/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/346779) goals in his club career in English football.

At 26 years of age, Adams has not hit his prime yet, and so this could turn out to be a smart piece of business from EFC.
