# Everton: Toffees fans swoon over reported Theo Walcott to Southampton loan move

**According to an update by reliable Times journalist and Merseyside correspondent [Paul Joyce](https://twitter.com/_pauljoyce/status/1313018592229810177), Southampton are looking to take Everton winger Theo Walcott on loan – with the club looking increasingly hopeful of a deadline day deal.**

It’s been an eventful transfer window for the Toffees so far, with director of football Marcel Brands sealing a plethora of noteworthy deals even before the deadline day rush.

Indeed, Everton have secured the likes of James Rodriguez, Allan, Abdoulaye Doucoure and, most recently, homegrown defender Ben Godfrey – who was [recently announced](https://www.countytimes.co.uk/sport/national/18770274.everton-sign-norwich-defender-ben-godfrey-five-year-deal/) on a permanent deal from Norwich.

Now, it appears Carlo Ancelotti’s side are looking to send some players through the exit door, potentially to free up squad space and cut the wage bill, with Walcott now on the chopping block as his former club Southampton come knocking.

As a result, many Everton fans have become excited over this update from a reliable source, with a fair few of them hoping a deal can be done to temporarily offload the Englishman.
