# Everton: Toffees interested in signing Viktor Gyokeres

**[Everton](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/everton-fc-news/) are interested in signing Coventry City striker Viktor Gyokeres before the transfer deadline, according to a recent report.**

### The Lowdown: Everton eyeing Gyokeres

Coventry manager Mark Robins dismissed any suggestion of the Swedish marksman leaving the Sky Blues in the January transfer window, telling [Coventry Live](https://www.coventrytelegraph.net/sport/football/transfer-news/coventry-city-transfers-viktor-gyokeres-25860660) that there is ‘no chance’ that the 24-year-old departs, although interest in his services has persisted.

Reporter Alex Crook told [GIVEMESPORT](https://www.givemesport.com/88103593-wolves-now-interested-in-111-goal-striker-at-molineux) that Wolverhampton Wanderers were one of the clubs eyeing the striker earlier this month, while Dean Jones also strongly [linked](https://www.givemesport.com/88098859-everton-could-take-big-gamble-on-114-goal-strikers-at-goodison-park) Everton with a move, which could now be on the cards.

### The Latest: Dyche is a fan

According to [Football League World](https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/exclusive-sean-dyche-hoping-to-bring-coventry-city-player-to-everton-in-big-money-transfer-swoop/), the Toffees are interested in signing the 24-year-old before the January transfer window shuts, and they are likely to have a decent budget available, with Anthony Gordon agreeing a [£45m move](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/64434226) to Newcastle United.

It is also detailed that Sean Dyche – who is [set to be appointed imminently](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11671/12796397/everton-sean-dyche-expected-to-be-appointed-manager-after-winning-race-to-succeed-frank-lampard) as Everton’s new manager – is an admirer of the Sweden international, with the Sky Blues said to be holding out for a fee of £18m to let him leave.

### The Verdict: Get it done

It is no wonder that Robins is so reluctant to allow Gyokeres to leave, given that the 53-year-old lauded him as being ‘[unbelievable](https://www.coventrytelegraph.net/sport/football/football-news/coventry-city-transfers-viktor-gyokeres-24634767)‘ earlier this season while [also praising](https://www.coventrytelegraph.net/sport/football/football-news/coventry-city-transfers-viktor-gyokeres-24634767) him for his power and technique.

The former Swansea City man has netted on [12](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/viktor-gyokeres/leistungsdaten/spieler/325443) occasions in 27 Championship appearances this term, while he has also recently started to display his creative side, helping himself to an [assist](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/coventry-city_norwich-city/index/spielbericht/3857009) in their last match against Norwich City.

The top-flight’s second-lowest scorers with just [15 goals](https://www.premierleague.com/tables), Everton clearly need some new options in forward areas, especially after their deal to sign Arnaut Danjuma was [hijacked](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12794367/arnaut-danjuma-transfer-tottenham-make-late-move-to-sign-everton-target-on-loan-from-villarreal) at the death by Tottenham, and Gyokeres would appear to be a very good addition.

However, his £18m price tag is quite high considering that he is [unproven](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/viktor-gyokeres/detaillierteleistungsdaten/spieler/325443) in the [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/), and the Toffees should try to negotiate a lower fee.
