# Exclusive: Ex-Spurs star comments on Poch keeping Kane at the club

**Former Tottenham Hotspur star Paul Stewart does not believe that the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino as manager would convince Harry Kane to stay at the club.**

Spurs have been heavily linked with a move to bring the Argentine back to the club following the sacking of Jose Mourinho.

[The Athletic](https://theathletic.com/news/mauricio-pochettino-tottenham-psg/R7RoUtFPvG9L) reported last week that the two parties had entered into talks over a deal that would see Pochettino return to the club he left just 18 months ago from PSG.

He would be walking back into a team in transition, however, with Kane having reportedly told the club that he wants to leave.

[Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11675/12309404/harry-kane-again-tells-tottenham-he-wants-to-leave-as-manchester-city-manchester-united-chelsea-lie-in-wait) first reported his desire to move away from the club, leading to links with the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, and Chelsea.

Kane and Pochettino fostered a close working relationship when the latter was first at the club and while Stewart believes the England captain would have a decision to make if Pochettino did make a return, he does not expect it to sway him.

Speaking exclusively to **The Transfer Tavern**, he said: *“You would think that it may but I don’t think that it will change his mind. It may give Harry Kane food for thought.”*
