# Exclusive: Windass claims Chris Wilder could be West Brom’s next manager

**In an exclusive interview with [The Transfer Tavern](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/), Dean Windass, who made [402 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/dean-windass/profil/spieler/3328) during his career, has claimed that Chris Wilder could be heading to West Brom with Sam Allardyce unlikely to stay with them in the Championship.**

Wilder was surprisingly sacked by the Blades earlier this year despite the club appearing to be destined for relegation and the 53-year old has previously been [linked](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/exclusive-chris-wilder-west-brom-23765985) with the soon to be vacant role at the Hawthorns.

After the Baggies drew 1-1 with their local rivals Wolves, they must now win all of their remaining four games and hope that Newcastle United fail to pick up any more points to have a chance of staying in the Premier League.

Speaking on how Wilder could be heading to West Brom and why Allardyce won’t be staying with the Baggies, Windass exclusively told **The Transfer Tavern**:

*“I heard a rumour about Chris Wilder going to West Brom and the only reason why I believe that is because I can’t see Allardyce managing in the championship because he’s a Premier League manager.*

*“Why wouldn’t West Brom want Chris Wilder? He might take a couple of Sheffield United players to West Brom because that’s how it works nowadays, but everything is just speculation in football.”*

West Brom appeared to have given themselves a fighting chance of staying up following back-to-back wins against Chelsea and Southampton but two points from their following three games has all but killed off their chances.

Allardyce has a [clause in his contract](https://www.fourfourtwo.com/news/sam-allardyce-has-clause-in-contract-to-remain-west-brom-manager-if-club-stay-up-1617312644000) which allows him to walk away from the Hawthorns if he fails to keep the Baggies in the Premier League.
