# Liverpool: ESPN share post-transfer window Fabio Carvalho update

**As per [ESPN reporter James Olley](https://www.espn.co.uk/football/soccer-transfers/story/4584171/liverpool-hopeful-of-signing-fulhams-fabio-carvalho-in-8m-deal-sources), there has been a post-January transfer development out of Liverpool involving young Fulham forward Fabio Carvalho.**

### The Lowdown: Liverpool fail with last-minute Carvalho move…

At 8pm on deadline day, Liverpool were apparently racing against the clock to sign the 19-year-old as the player’s entourage entered last-gasp discussions over a five-year contract at Anfield ([The Athletic](https://theathletic.com/3105302/2022/02/02/fabio-carvalho-why-8m-liverpool-transfer-collapsed-and-what-happens-next/?source=emp_shared_article)).

However, despite agreeing a fee worth £8m, including add-ons and a sell-on clause, the Reds could not process the necessary documentation to register his signing before the 11pm deadline ([The Athletic](https://theathletic.com/3105302/2022/02/02/fabio-carvalho-why-8m-liverpool-transfer-collapsed-and-what-happens-next/?source=emp_shared_article)).

As a result, Carvalho stayed at Fulham, but [ESPN](https://www.espn.co.uk/football/soccer-transfers/story/4584171/liverpool-hopeful-of-signing-fulhams-fabio-carvalho-in-8m-deal-sources) have now shared a promising post-January update.

### The Latest: Liverpool in post-January talks…

According to the [American sports news outlet](https://www.espn.co.uk/football/soccer-transfers/story/4584171/liverpool-hopeful-of-signing-fulhams-fabio-carvalho-in-8m-deal-sources), Liverpool are ‘keen to secure Carvalho’s signing as soon as possible’ and are ‘hopeful’ of securing an agreement without the need for a tribunal.

It is also believed that post-January transfer window talks are ‘continuing’ even though the Fulham starlet cannot be registered for Jurgen Klopp’s side until the summer.

### The Verdict: Promising…

Landing the England under-21 international ahead of the summer would be the cherry on top of what was a fruitful mid-season window for Liverpool.

The arrival of Colombia star Luis Diaz has [excited many Reds fans](https://www.thisisanfield.com/2022/02/liverpool-fans-ready-for-footy-again-with-luis-diaz-after-almost-perfect-january/) after they [beat Premier League rivals Tottenham](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1558001/Luis-Diaz-Liverpool-transfer-news-done-deal/amp) to the punch, with Carvalho’s possible signing yet another reason to be ecstatic.

Lauded as a[‘very exciting’](https://www.footballinsider247.com/liverpool-could-sign-sensation-carvalho-after-what-phillips-has-heard/) player by pundit Kevin Phillips, the talented teenager has racked up [seven goals and four assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fabio-carvalho/leistungsdaten/spieler/559263) in the Championship this season despite his tender age. A fee of £8m seems like a steal, especially for a player who satisfies homegrown quota requirements.
