# Liverpool: Fans explode with delight as they discover their side’s Champions League pathway

**Lots of Liverpool fans have been discussing their side’s fate that was revealed during this afternoon’s Champions League draw in Switzerland.**

With the Reds having won the competition [six](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/history/honours) times, most recently in Madrid at the end of the [2018/2019 campaign](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48368443), Jurgen Klopp’s side will be raring to go on their European adventure once more as the Premier League champions look to create more history on the continent.

Having been [knocked out](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51800660) of last season’s tournament by Atletico Madrid, Klopp vowed that his team will give it their all as they aim to [compete for every trophy](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/410710-jurgen-klopp-arsenal-programme-notes-carabao-cup) this season.

With this in mind, their task of winning a seventh Champions League title won’t be easy and will see them enter unchartered territory after being [drawn](https://www.theguardian.com/football/live/2020/oct/01/champions-league-group-stage-draw-live-updates) against Ajax, Atalanta and FC Midtjylland.

The Reds will face Ajax for the first time in a competitive competition since [1966](https://twitter.com/Simon_Hughes__/status/1311694744020451333), which will be an eagerly anticipated encounter for all. De Godenzonen made it to this stage of the competition despite the Eredivisie being [cancelled](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52418048) last season.

Atalanta will be new to Liverpool, with The Reds having [never come across them](https://stats.football.co.uk/head_to_head/liverpool/vs/atalanta/index.shtml) in their history, which is also the case for [Midtjylland too.](https://www.soccerbase.com/teams/team.sd?team_id=1563&team2_id=3306&teamTabs=h2h)
