Leeds United: Jamie O'Hara thinks Whites are set for the Premier League after dramatic Millwall win - Features

Former footballer Jamie O’Hara believes Leeds United are the best team in the Championship – and that their performances in the second tier will see them promoted come the end of the season.

Leeds staged a remarkable comeback to record their first league win in four attempts having gone two goals down at home to Millwall before a rousing second-half turnaround. Reflecting on the performance on TalkSPORT, O’Hara suggested that there is no team better than the Whites in the Championship, praising their style of play under Marcelo Bielsa as well as the return to form of Patrick Bamford, who notched a match-winning double at Elland Road on Tuesday.

He said: “For me, they’re the best team in the league. They’ve got a brilliant manager, the style of play that they’ve implemented in the Championship is incredible, so this is the season for them. It’s going to be hard, because every game in that Championship is tough. As you can see, anyone can beat anyone in that league, and it’s not over until you finally get there, but I think Leeds have got more than enough this season.

“To have that style of football they’ve got and to keep doing it and keep grinding out results is definitely not easy and it’s good to see Bamford scoring some goals again because I know he was having a bit of a spell – so fair play to them.”

O’Hara’s positive outlook for Leeds marks a significant change of tune from the ex-Spurs midfielder, who had previously raised his concerns over the strength of the Whites attack as their form continued to dwindle in the opening weeks of the calendar year.

Though despite welcoming a new arrival in Jean-Kevin Augustin in recent days, it was Leeds’ existing stars that earned a much-needed three points in midweek, with their latest signing watching on from the stands on Tuesday night.

So not much has materially changed since O’Hara’s original summation of the side’s chances. However, suddenly Leeds have ‘more than enough’, with Bamford’s long-overdue double (his first goals in his six Leeds appearances) appearing to address O’Hara’s previous worries over how clinical the side were in front of goal.

It is almost as if O’Hara is willing to put his weight behind what looks like being the most likely outcome, while with Leeds back to winning ways and West Brom continuing to slide as the top two exchanged places, it certainly seems Bielsa’s men are back in the driving seat for automatic promotion.
