The swap deal is one of the most underrated forms of getting a transfer done in the world of football.
We have seen few swap deals in the past few years, and even less with big names players involved, with the last high profile one being Alexis Sanchez going from Arsenal to Manchester United with Henrikh Mkhitaryan going the other way, but there could be an even bigger one on the horizon this summer.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport via the Metro, Juventus have been demanded by Cristiano Ronaldo to bring in big names this summer, and that Paulo Dybala could be used as leverage in a deal to bring Mohamed Salah to Turin.
It would be one of the craziest swap deals in football history if it was to happen, but what would the potential consequences be of such a move happening?
Firmino faces uncertainty
With a player as good as Dybala at in the team, it would seem foolish to try and replace him as a direct replacement for Salah.
With the Argentine international naturally a false nine and not that productive when played out on the right, it is likely he will take the Roberto Firmino role in the team, which could leave the Brazilian striker out in the cold.
Jurgen Klopp could go bold and try a front three of Mane-Firmino-Dybala, but this is likely to be less productive than what Salah produced in that system with the current Juventus number 10 just not cut out to play out wide.
Salah has third crack at Scudetto
Back in Italy with his third club in the country, Salah would have yet another attempt to claim the piece of silverware that has eluded him for so long, and at Juventus, it’s almost guaranteed a Scudetto will be added to his trophy wall.
Salah was sensational during his time in Italy with Fiorentina and AS Roma, and with Juventus, the Egyptian winger can take his career to the next step and continue his development as one of the best players in world football with the trophies to back up that claim.
Liverpool fans, would you take Dybala if it meant Salah left? Let us know!
