Ex-Spurs striker Darren Bent has advised out-of-favour Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud to potentially search for a move to Everton as he struggles for game time.
The French forward played a crucial role in Chelsea’s Europa League triumph last season, scoring 11 goals and assisting four others as he led the line for Maurizio Sarri’s side.
Despite his stellar contribution on the continent, Giroud has been overlooked in the league this season, playing just 121 minutes for Chelsea across four appearances, with three coming as a substitute, as per WhoScored.com.
With that in mind, Bent spoke to TalkSPORT via HITC, outlining the 33-year-old’s best potential Premier League suitors if he wants to compete for a place in the team whilst also increasing his likelihood of finding more success.
“The most ideal situation would be Everton,” claimed the pundit.
“Giroud is an out-and-out centre-forward and I don’t think they’ve got one. Also when you’ve got players like Richarlison, Bernard, [Gylfi] Sigurdsson and these guys, [Alex] Iwobi, they can play off him because he’s a big target man.
“I think they should go for him, because they need that.”
Indeed, with new signing Moise Kean yet to score for the club, they do appear to be short of a prolific out-and-out centre-forward, with Giroud’s great goalscoring record in Europe last season being a possible head-turner for Marco Silva if he is considering making moves in January.
