Liverpool supporters have been in high spirits in recent times after seeing their side get off to the perfect start in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
Jurgen Klopp’s men went into their opening clash with French giants Paris Saint-Germain off the back of a five-match winning streak to start the Premier League season, their most recent victory of which coming against Tottenham at the weekend. And the Reds maintained their 100% start to the campaign with a 3-2 success over Thomas Tuchel’s side at Anfield, with goals from Daniel Sturridge, James Milner, and Roberto Firmino inspiring them to victory in their Group C encounter.
Thus, there have been many thrilled Liverpudlians up and down the country in recent times, several of whom are likely to be intrigued by recent comments from The Daily Telegraph’s Chief Sports Writer Paul Hayward, who has heaped praise on young full back Trent Alexander-Arnold, stating that he has a ‘fabulous career ahead of him’.
Trent Alexander-Arnold has a fabulous career ahead of him. Already comfortable at this level. Great power in those slightly bandy legs. Thumps the ball. Accurately.

And Hayward is absolutely right to rave about the 19-year-old, whose meteoric rise in the last 12 months shows no sign of letting up.
Ultimately, the young right back had only featured 12 times for the Reds first team prior to the start of last season, although an injury to first-choice right back Nathaniel Clyne during pre-season last summer opened the door for Alexander-Arnold to prove his worth.
And he, alongside fellow youngster Joe Gomez, certainly did that and more last season, with Alexander-Arnold going on to appear 31 times in all competitions for Klopp’s side, 19 of which coming in the Premier League, and ten coming in their run to the Champions League final.
And in showing great maturity throughout his time in the side, not least in brilliantly marshalling Manchester City’s Leroy Sane in their 3-0 win over the Citizens in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final, it’s clear that the 19-year-old does indeed have a massive future ahead of him, as Hayward rightly acknowledges.
In fact, England manager Gareth Southgate was so impressed by the defender that he named him in his 23-man squad for the World Cup in Russia during the summer – and with three caps already for his country, he looks set for a bright future on the international stage as well.
And Tuesday’s night impressive victory over Ligue 1 champions PSG further underlined just how good Alexander-Arnold is and indeed how good he is likely to become, with the 19-year-old once again proving his worth on the big stage with presence in attack but also adeptness in defence.
And that display, among many others the full back has delivered in the last 12 months or so, prompted Hayward to rave about the Englishman, and he was absolutely right to do so after another commanding performance from the defender.
