Tottenham Hotspur: Harry Kane praised for penalty successes by ITV pundits

‘His record speaks for itself’ – ITV pundits adore England man after Bulgaria win

Harry Kane was widely praised after his hat-trick secured an emphatic 4-0 success as England continued their march towards qualification for Euro 2020.

The Tottenham striker grabbed two from the penalty spot, and it was his efficiency from 12 yards that was praised by ITV pundits on Saturday evening as the Three Lions recorded a third-straight victory in Group A.

Kane took advantage of some hapless defending for his first goal of the match before helping himself to two more from the spot, following on from his penalty success in Spurs’ North London derby draw last weekend.

His efforts brought his penalty record under the spotlight, and there was nothing but praise for the England forward as he took his international tally to 25.

Speaking on ITV’s coverage of the win over Bulgaria, pundits Lee Dixon and Roy Keane – alongside a former England striker in Ian Wright – were full of praise for the Spurs frontman.

“His record speaks for itself,” said Dixon (via HITC). “It’s the pace he puts it in with that’s pretty impressive.”

Keane agreed, saying: “Every time he steps up you think he’s going to score. Great technique and then again, the power behind his shots are fantastic.”

Kane’s penalty double saw him grab a seventh and eighth successful spot-kick for the senior England side, while his overall record is also to be admired – having found the net in each of his last 14 attempts in all competitions.

He is clearly a man to rely on from the spot, and proved that during England’s shootout victory over Colombia at last year’s World Cup – which is not included towards his record.

Having only missed six out of the 39 he has taken throughout his career, his recent run suggests Kane certainly has the knack for notching from 12 yards.

And with three already to his name in that regard this season, he is unlikely to be dislodged as taker for club nor country any time soon.
