‘He ticks every box’ – TalkSPORT pundit thinks this Spurs player is destined for greatness
Former footballer Chris Iwelumo believes Harry Kane will go on to break records throughout his career after the Tottenham striker was roundly praised following his three-goal haul against Bulgaria for England at the weekend.
Speaking on TalkSPORT, Kane was labelled as a top striker by Iwelumo and co-panellist Jamie O’Hara, with the former Scotland international backing the 26-year-old to set the bar for future generations.
O’Hara named Kane as the world’s best No9 as the pundits were in no shortage of superlatives for the England man, and Iwelumo suggested that the Spurs forward does not appear to have any weaknesses.
He said: “For me, he ticks every box – he’s good at everything. He’s got that eye for goal. He’s so selfish with it, in a good way, and you have to have that [quality].
I don’t have any doubt that he will go on and surpass all records and he will be setting them.”
His haul of 128 goals in the Premier League still leaves him some way off Alan Shearer’s record of 260 strikes, although Kane’s goals-per-game ratio is currently at a better rate than the Newcastle United legend – with Kane recording a goal for every 1.45 Premier League matches, compared to Shearer’s rate of 1.7 games per goal.
So there will be plenty of records for Kane to chase in the years to come, and his current rate of goalscoring suggests he may well be capable of setting new heights for whoever succeeds him at the top of Tottenham and England’s respective attacks.
