West Ham United were thought to have been in the January transfer market for a new striker this winter.
A number of names had been thrown around in the media with who The Hammers were thought to have been potentially keen on, although they did not manage to bring one into the club.
Duvan Zapata and Maxi Gomez are both two of the more interesting names, as both could be allowed to leave Sampdoria and Celta de Vigo in the summer transfer window respectively.
However, which South American attacker would be the better option for Manuel Pellegrini to try and bring to the London Stadium?
The Colombia international has been in fine form for Atalanta this season, for whom he is currently on loan with from Sampdoria.
The 27-year-old has been hugely prolific in Serie A, having found the back of the net 16 times in his 24 appearances so far.
It is understood West Ham made an offer in the region of €40million in January to try and bring him to England, however, that bid had failed to tempt Sampdoria into cashing in for him, per Gianluca Di Marzio.
However, a new report by Tuttomercatoweb has revealed that Atalanta will be prepared to sell him once he completes his move to them permanently, with a figure of €50m being quoted.

As has the Colombian, the Uruguay international has been scoring for fun for Celta de Vigo in La Liga this season.
The 22-year-old has nine goals in his 19 top-flight matches so far, adding to the 17 he netted in the previous campaign.
At one stage, Gomez had appeared to be a West Ham player, with the club reported to have been prepared to pay the £43.5m release clause, although talks subsequently stalled as the Spanish side were not keen on losing him in the winter amid a relegation scrap, per The London Evening Standard.
However, The Hammers could return for him in the summer, although they may have to face some competition for the 22-year-old’s signature, with Barcelona having been credited with some interest in the Uruguayan recently, per Don Balon.

Both strikers have been in fine goalscoring form over the past few campaigns and are clearly the type of individuals West Ham will need to bring to the London Stadium in order to step up their efforts in obtaining European football.
With both clubs seemingly prepared to offload their talented frontmen, it will simply come down to a choice and one that Pellegrini will have to make.
It will not be an easy decision to make by all means, however, with Gomez still relatively young, he could be the best option as he will still have some time to develop and mature into a top talent in the future.
