Portsmouth currently find themselves at the top of the League One table, while Sunderland are beginning to gain ground as they sit in third position with two games in hand.
Pompey have been the standout performers in League One this season, so they won’t accept anything less than promotion to the Championship. Meanwhile, the Black Cats are really starting to build up ahead of steam under Jack Ross, so they’ll fancy themselves in the race for automatic promotion.
Interestingly, Portsmouth will welcome Sunderland to Fratton Park at the weekend, so we took a look at Jamal Lowe and Lynden Gooch’s influence at their respective clubs.
With that in mind, let’s compare these two transfers…
Portsmouth signed Jamal Lowe on a one-year contract from non-league side Hampton & Richmond back in October of 2016, and he has since proved to be an absolute gem in the side.
The attacker currently has eight goals and four assists to his name this season as one of the main contributors in the final third for Pompey, so he will play a huge part in their promotion push from here on in.
TT GRADE: A-
Lynden Gooch has been one of the standout performers in the current campaign, having produced six goals and eight assists already. He is enjoying arguably his best season in the red and white stripes, so Jack Ross will be turning to him in the hope that he can help secure promotion back to the Championship at the first time of asking.
The American has a bright future ahead of him and has already impressed on the international stage, as he continues to perform at the top of his game at the Stadium of Light.
TT GRADE: A
When comparing these two, it’s very difficult to separate them as they’ve both been influential for their respective clubs in the current campaign, with goals and assists being a guarantee.
Jamal Lowe has been one of the standout performers for Portsmouth in the current campaign as he continues to defy expectations at Fratton Park.
And, Lynden Gooch is developing into a hot topic at the Stadium of Light as he has managed to provide a number of valuable contributions in the final third this season.
Both players have already showcased their talents in League One this season and will play a huge part for their respective clubs, but Gooch possibly just edges things having reached a new level under Jack Ross.
