West Bromwich Albion will host Sheffield United at The Hawthorns on Saturday as both sides look to cement themselves within the automatic promotion spots.
Darren Moore witnessed his side apply the pressure on Tuesday night with a late 3-2 win against Queens Park Rangers on Tuesday night to move just one point behind Chris Wilder’s Blades.
However, he will be without Dwight Gayle for the encounter because of suspension and will look for Jay Rodriguez to lead the line, whilst the Bramall Lane outfit will continue to be hoping Billy Sharp can fire them to Premier League glory.
However, which striker is better to have in their ranks?
Rodriguez has played a key role for West Brom following his arrival in 2017 from Southampton for a fee thought to be in the region of £12million, per BBC Sport.
Moore managed to do extremely well to keep hold of the striker once they were relegated, with the likes of Burnley thought to have been keen on bringing him back to Turf Moor, per The Telegraph.
The England international has continued to excel for The Baggies this season, as he has hit the back of the net 17 times in his 33 Championship appearances, forming a rather prolific partnership with the aforementioned Gayle.
The 29-year-old is crucial to their chances of winning promotion back to the Premier League and will look to extend his goalscoring record against Sheffield United on Saturday evening.
TT Grade: B
The 33-year-old striker continues to put in performances of the highest quality for Sheffield United this season and has undoubtedly been one of the main reasons as to why Wilder’s side are looking at a real chance of winning promotion.
Sharp may be approaching the end of his career, however, he has shown no signs of being any less prolific in front of goal.
The forward has hit 22 goals in his 30 Championship appearances, including a hat-trick against Aston Villa a couple of weeks ago, significantly improving on his tally of 13 from the last campaign.
Definitely, a player that appears to be getting better with age, Sharp has the ability to cause the West Brom defenders a real problem when in-and-around the penalty area and will look to create havoc once again on Saturday evening.
TT Grade: B+
Both strikers have had outstanding campaigns in front of goal this season and are major reasons as to why the clubs are within a good chance of winning automatic promotion to the Premier League.
West Brom are the league’s current highest goalscorers, with 67 so far, and Rodriguez has played a huge role in finding the back of the net often.
However, Sharp is a man in red-hot form as well and his hat-trick against Aston Villa will have only boosted his confidence in front of goal even further, and for that reason, he wins this particular battle.
