Wolves and Chelsea had differing fortunes at the weekend as the Blues returned to winning ways while Wolves suffered yet another loss to Cardiff City.
Wolves made a solid start to the season but recently, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side has struggled and have won one game in their last six and have only picked up one point.
Chelsea, however, returned to winning ways after being demolished by Spurs the weekend before. Both sides have two superb midfielders in Jorginho and Ruben Neves, so let’s compare the two.
With super agent, Jorge Mendes at the club, Wolves managed to sign Porto’s wonderkid, Ruben Neves who ever since joining the club in 2017, has shown himself to be a superb signing.
Despite his young age, Neves made an instant impact on the side and helped Wolves gain promotion back into the Premier League at the end of last season. This year, he’s once again had a huge impact on the side and in tandem with Joao Moutinho, Wolves have one of the best midfield partnerships in the league.
Valued at £35 million but bought for just £16 million, it seems as though Wolves have signed a midfielder who will go on to be a star and unfortunately for Wolves fans, he’ll probably attract interest from multiple clubs over the summer.

After establishing himself as one of the best midfielders in Europe, Chelsea shelled out £50 million on the midfielder.
Against Tottenham, Jorginho was exposed as Tottenham continued to burst past him and targeted him continually throughout the game. Aside from that game, the Italy international has been superb for Chelsea this season and has already become Sarri’s midfield maestro.
The 26-year-old is at the centre of pretty much every Chelsea attack. He takes the ball from the defence and orchestrates play for Sarri with his superb passing and intelligence.
When having to defend in his own half, Jorginho can be exposed but what he does do very well is organise Chelsea’s pressing from the front. He’s not quite up to the level he showed for Napoli but nevertheless, Jorginho has still proven to be a superb signing.
TT Grade: A-
There’s no doubt that Neves will go on to have a superb career and most likely at a top-six club. He’s an incredible talent and arguably one of the best signings to have been made by Wolves in their recent history.
The 21-year-old, however, still has some way to go if he wants to match Jorginho. The Italy international is a brilliant midfielder and has already established himself as one of the best in the league and vital to Chelsea’s success going forward.
