Leeds United have a habit of producing some truly amazing youngsters through their academy ranks, however, they have struggled to keep hold of them as a number of Premier League clubs look to swoop in for them.
And, it appears one of their latest breakthrough talents could be one of the latest to follow suit.
Jack Clarke has excelled in Marcelo Bielsa’s first-team this season and has become one of the hottest young talents within England and maybe even European football.
However, unfortunately for The Whites, his performances under the Argentine have not gone unnoticed by clubs in the top-flight, with several teams thought to be keen on the teenager.
And, Liverpool are just the latest to have been linked with a move, as Jurgen Klopp has had Clarke watched by scouts recently.
But, is the 18-year-old better off staying at Leeds, or should he move on to the Premier League giants?
The teenager has made a number of vital contributions to Leeds this season, as they look to win promotion to the Premier League for the first time since the 2003-04 campaign.
He has emerged into one of Bielsa’s key men and has two goals and two assists to his name so far, although his potential is through the roof.
Clarke is likely to feature prominently for Leeds until the end of the season, and should they win promotion to the Premier League themselves, will likely play a key role in their first season back in the top-flight.
The 18-year-old would also have the opportunity to continue his development with a coaching team that know him best and by playing regular first-team football, his ability should only be enhanced further.
TT Grade: A
Should a club as big as Liverpool come knocking, it would only be too hard for a player of Clarke’s age to ignore and not consider.
Klopp’s side are one of the biggest in Europe and have recently turned themselves into genuine Premier League title contenders with their performances.
The Anfield outfit will be able to try and tempt Leeds into selling the player for a rather large fee as well, something that the Yorkshire outfit have succumbed to in previous years with some of their other stars.
However, Clarke must ask the questions of whether he will get a real chance of playing first-team football with the likes of Xherdan Shaqiri also waiting in the pecking order to get regular match time, and whether a move to Merseyside will be the best move for him to continue his development over the short-term future.
TT Grade: B
Clarke would be better off remaining at Leeds for the foreseeable future as he is likely to play regular minutes and continue to improve and build on the hype currently surrounding him.
Although there is a chance he could shine at Liverpool, there have been too many players over the years that have gone to a huge club at a young age and have failed to reach their potential.
And, who knows, should the teenager remain at Elland Road, he could be playing Premier League football next season anyway.
