Sheffield United currently find themselves sitting in third position in the Championship, while West Bromwich Albion are one point behind in fifth place.
The Blades will be desperate to challenge for an automatic promotion place in the current campaign, with a play-off spot being a nice consolation prize. Meanwhile, the Baggies have to set their sights on securing automatic promotion as Darren Moore has one of the strongest squads in the Championship.
Interestingly, Sheffield United will welcome West Bromwich Albion to Bramall Lane on Friday night, so we took a look at Oliver Norwood and Jake Livermore’s influence at their respective clubs.
With that in mind, let’s compare these two transfers…
Brighton & Hove Albion loaned Oliver Norwood to Sheffield United until January, when a permanent transfer will be completed.
The central midfielder has been one of the standout performers for the Blades in the current campaign, with two goals and four assists to his name at this moment in time, including a wonder strike.
Chris Wilder’s side have been able to boss games with the 27-year-old on the pitch as he has the ability to thread the final ball, can find the back of the net from distance and is a hard tackler.
TT GRADE: A-
Jake Livermore experienced some of his best days in the Premier League at the Hawthorns as he enjoyed a spell on the international stage with England, securing seven caps.
The central midfielder should be bossing things in the Championship, but he just hasn’t been able to assert his dominance so far this season as one of West Brom’s most overrated players.
So, with the Baggies chasing promotion to the Premier League, they might want to think about ringing in the changes as Livermore has offered very little in the final third and has struggled to keep the opposition under wraps.
TT GRADE: B
When comparing these two, it’s clear to see that Norwood is enjoying the rub of the green at this moment in time as he continues to defy expectations at Brammal Lane, while Livermore is really struggling to put in consistently good performances at the Hawthorns.
The Sheffield United man will play a huge part in their promotion push and will no doubt go on to score plenty more goals in the current campaign, so he is definitely one to watch.
On the other hand, Livermore has the ability to establish himself as one of the best midfielders in the Championship, but he is showing no signs of improving as the January transfer window approaches.
Both players have been at opposite ends of the spectrum in the Championship this season, as Norwood continues to outclass Livermore at this moment in time, with more valuable contributions to his name.
