Everton fans will be wondering how they are not better at the back this season with the likes of Kurt Zouma, Yerry Mina and Lucas Digne all in their ranks.
The Toffees have struggled to keep clean sheets throughout the Premier League campaign and have had a couple of heavy defeats along the way.
One man that had been crucial over the past few years was Ramiro Funes Mori, who arrived on 1 September 2015 for a fee confirmed by the club for £9.5million.
The Argentine defender brought to Goodison Park from River Plate on a five-year deal and it would be fair to say that fans were a little surprised with how much they splashed out to bring the player to Goodison Park. Here are some of their reactions at the time…

@Everton 9.5 Million? A lot for him that

@Everton Can you confirm that £9.5m is a typing error? Otherwise what are we playing at? Worried.

And, he may have done enough to have justified the amount spent on him as he became a popular player at Everton during his time in England.
Funes Mori played a key role for Roberto Martinez and Ronald Koeman during their time on Merseyside, making 67 appearances and bagging himself five goals in the process.
However, he was blighted with injury problems in his second season and missed the remainder of the 2016-17 campaign following a torn meniscus injury he sustained whilst on international duty with Argentina in March 2017.
Things did not get much better for the now-28-year-old as in the summer of that year he was forced to undergo a second operation on the knee injury and missed a significant portion of the 2017-18 campaign, making just four appearances.
With the arrival of Marco Silva, he was deemed surplus to requirements and was sold to Villarreal, where he has become a key figure for the La Liga strugglers.
With Digne currently playing well, Funes Mori could have struggled to have made an impact in the side at Goodison Park, however, he may have added some much-needed stability to a rather fragile backline.
Everton fans, do you feel the club miss Funes Mori or was he moved on at the right time following his injury concerns? Join in with the discussion by sharing your thoughts with us below.
