It’s fair to say that West Ham United fans will remember 27 April 2019 for many years to come!
Although beating one of your fierce local rivals in their own back yard is always delightful, the fact that you were the first club to score at their new stadium and make them suffer their first defeat was the cherry on top of the cake.
The Hammers’ win against Tottenham Hotspur will live long in the memory and understandably, fans were delighted with the result as many were unable to contain their jubilation on Twitter following the final whistle.
As is the norm within the social media era, many of the club’s faithful flocked to the social media site to share their praise with their club and plenty of them seemed to share the same sentiment.
Here are just some of their reactions – because let’s face it, there were thousands of Tweets regarding the victory!

Everyone was ecstatic about the victory that Manuel Pellegrini’s side were able to produce and it clearly showed what the West Ham side are capable of achieving when they were playing at their best.
Even the co-chairmen David Gold and David Sullivan shared a statement regarding the victory in their end of season message and highlighted it as one of their best moments for the 2018/19 campaign.
Writing on the club’s official website, they stated: “Manuel Pellegrini and his players have produced some magical moments, marvellous performances and memorable victories – most recently in a certain part of north London! – and, above all, have created a spirit and identity that we believe all Hammers fans have genuine faith in.”
Understandably, that victory may have lifted the expectation levels through the roof at the London Stadium next season, however, it should have also given the West Ham squad a confidence boost (if any were needed).
Many of the Hammers’ faithful will not be able to wait until the beginning of the next campaign and if Pellegrini’s side can produce a number of performances like that against some of their other rivals (and Tottenham again of course), then the West Ham Twitter world will be a very loving place indeed.
