Arsenal have had a number of legendary attackers on their books at some point in their history with the likes of Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp, Ian Wright and Alan Smith just a few of the men to have made a real impact on those at the club.
One man that also put himself in a favourable position with the club’s fanbase during his time in north London arrived on 10 July 2014, however, his past with the Gunners may not be looked back at with too much fondness now.
That aforementioned player is Alexis Sanchez.
The Chilean arrived from Barcelona and to say his arrival got Arsenal fans excited would have to seriously go down as a huge understatement. Just take a look at some of these Twitter reactions to the announcement…

As mentioned, Sanchez managed to quickly establish himself as a fan favourite with his new team and showed how important he would turn out to be for the Gunners with his performances – which included several match winners.
In his first season in English football, the Chilean hit 25 goals in his 52 appearances across all competitions and continued to improve and build upon those impressive displays as time went on.
Tallies of 17 and 30 followed before he netted eight in the first half of the campaign before he completed a move to Premier League rivals Manchester United in January 2018 – although Arsenal fans will have been delighted to see how badly that move has worked out for him.
Sanchez had won a number of individual honours during his time with Arsenal, with awards ranging from the PFA’s Team of the Season to being named as the club’s Player of the Season on two separate occasions.
With the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette leading the line for Unai Emery’s side now, the South American is hardly missed at the Emirates Stadium – especially given his troubles with Manchester United.
However, if he were to have stayed at Arsenal and continued to fire on all cylinders, there would have been every chance for Sanchez to write his name into club folklore.
