Tottenham signed former Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor from Man City in 2012 for £5m

The Togo striker had spent the previous season at White Hart Lane on loan, and had amassed 17 goals in 33 appearances for Spurs. This was a move that made sense after such a good season at the club.

On the whole, the fans were happy with the signing. Not only had he just had a great season, but this was another chance to get one up on their bitter rivals Arsenal.

This is what the fans had to say:

Adebayor spent another three years at White Hart Lane, but was never able to replicate the form he showed in his first season. A modest 18 goals in three Premier League campaigns was simply not good enough, particularly when 11 of them were during one campaign, the 2013/14 one.

However, the failure of Roberto Soldado at the club masked Adebayor’s equal struggles, as the Spaniard seemed to cop a lot of the blame for the club’s shortcomings.

Furthermore, the emergence of Harry Kane at the club, meant that the former Togo captain could leave the club quietly in September 2015, knowing the club had a new striker to take them forward.

It was a spell that never amounted to much, but is perhaps not regarded as a total failure.
