Southampton fans haven’t exactly had much to shout about in terms of goals at the pinnacle of the attack this season, as injuries and a lack of quality has let them down. Although, one player who always gave his all at St Mary’s was Graziano Pelle, as his goals gave fans plenty of happy memories.
Indeed, July 11th 2016 was a sad day for supporters as the club confirmed that the Italian had joined Chinese club Shandong Luneng for an undisclosed fee.
Many fans were less than pleased after hearing news of Pelle’s departure, as they took to Twitter to vent their frustrations.
Thankyou for everything. Always one of us.

The 33-year-old moved to St Mary’s from Feyenoord in the summer of 2014, and he hit the ground running almost immediately as he scored his first goal for the club in a 2-0 victory over Millwall in the League Cup.
Pelle made a name for himself during his first season in England as he netted an impressive 16 goals and provided three assists, as well as securing the Premier League Player of the Month award for September.
Many fans were excited about their side featuring in the Europa League qualifying stages during the 2015/16 season and Pelle didn’t disappoint, despite the Saints failing to qualify, as he managed to bag two goals in four games.
He had a habit of scoring against the big teams in matches during his final season at the club as he netted a brace against Manchester United and scored against Liverpool and Chelsea too. Indeed, the Saints had found a striker that knew how to ensure a consistent flow of goals and assists as he produced 11 and seven respectively.
But, things just weren’t meant to be as the club sold yet another player in the form of Pelle during the summer of 2016, as Southampton appeared to take up the role of a selling club.
Southampton fans, would you love to have Pelle back in your side right now? Surely he’s better than the likes of Charlie Austin and Shane Long…
