It was quite a bold move, wasn’t it? Jan Siewert was appointed as the new Head Coach of Huddersfield Town over two months ago now as he took over from David Wagner with the Terriers slumped at the bottom of the Premier League table.
Town opted to go with a manager of the same model as Siewert’s predecessor, Wagner, in terms of them both being relatively young coaches and both having managed Borussia Dortmund’s second side. Wagner, on the whole, had a great spell as he guided them to the Premier League for the first time. But, this campaign was his downfall and by moving on when he did, it gave Siewert a good opportunity to attempt the near impossible. At least if relegation was to occur, he could rebuild the squad for next season.
The German’s appointment lifted the spirits of lots of Town fans in a time where they did not have much to shout about.

Well, it didn’t work.
Granted, perhaps it’s unfair to blame him considering the disadvantage he was at from the get-go, but Huddersfield have obviously gone down with a whimper. Only the second ever team to be relegated this early, Siewert clearly has a job on his hands to restore confidence for the Championship campaign that awaits next season.
Every Terrier reading this will be hoping Dean Hoyle strikes gold again – having done so with Wagner – but there’s one hell of a job ahead.
