Transfer Flashback: Jed Steer joins Aston Villa - Transfer Flashbacks

Aston Villa fans have had to deal with a lot of pain this season involving goalkeepers as Orjan Nyland and Lovre Kalinic have been less than impressive, but Jed Steer has managed to turn things around.

The Englishman hasn’t exactly enjoyed the most successful of times at Villa Park up until this point, but he now has the chance to make a name for himself by taking Villa to the Premier League.

Interestingly, some supporters had very high hopes for the goalkeeper when he joined back in 2013, as fans took to Twitter to express their delight over the player’s post.

Jed Steer joined Aston Villa in 2013 but he was never able to secure a permanent place in the side, which forced him to join the likes of Doncaster Rovers, Yeovil Town, Huddersfield Town and Charlton Athletic on loan.

The goalkeeper was recalled earlier on this season from his spell at the Valley to cover for Lovre Kalinic with Orjan Nyland injured. And, due to an injury to Kalinic at West Brom, Steer was subbed on at halftime.

Indeed, he’s made up for lost time since returning to Villa Park as he’s quickly established himself as a vital promotion ingredient for the Villans, as he’s helped them win six games on the bounce in the Championship.

He’s become Dean Smith’s new hero at Villa Park having gone from the club’s third-choice keeper to No.1 in no time at all, as he continues to produce quality performances in-between the sticks.

You can understand why Villa fans once had such high hopes for the goalkeeper as he was one of the most promising ‘keepers in England when he joined, but he’s only just started to reach his full potential.
