Transfer Flashback: Jorge Grant - Transfer Flashbacks

Jorge Grant headed to Meadow Lane as one of Nottingham Forest’s hottest prospects, with the opportunity to thrive and develop in a tough League Two environment.

Supporters were over the moon with the club’s choice to bring him in on loan, as they took to the confirmation of the signing on Twitter in a delightful manner.

After spending time at the Nike Academy, Grant moved to Nottingham Forest’s academy, where he played for two years before joining the first-team squad.

On the 31st of January 2017, Grant joined Notts County on loan from city rivals Nottingham Forest for the remainder of the season. The 23-year-old was one of the standout performers during his first spell at the club as he managed to produce six goals and three assists in 17 appearances to help them avoid relegation.

Notts County then welcomed the midfielder back to the club on the 20th of July 2017 as they secured his services on a season-long loan. The Forest man enjoyed a fruitful second spell under Kevin Nolan, scoring 19 times and picking up the Players’ Player of the Year crown, as well as being named in the PFA League Two Team of the Season.

However, Alan Hardy was never able to bring him to the club on a permanent deal as their failed attempt at securing promotion to League One via the play-offs saw him loaned out to League One side Luton Town this summer.

Of course, supporters will always remember Jorge Grant’s two spells at the club as he turned out to be one of their best ever signings, and established himself as their standout performer during his time at Meadow Lane.
