When Leeds United announced that they had completed the signing of Mateusz Klich from FC Twente in 2017, not many of their supporters would have predicted just how big of a success the midfielder would go on to be at Elland Road.
Having played for no fewer than eight clubs during his career, the Poland international was in danger of earning the reputation of being a journeyman prior to making the switch to West Yorkshire.
Yet despite it clearly being somewhat of a risky move to bring Klich in, then-boss Thomas Christensen decided to take the plunge.
With the club revealing the news that had come to an agreement with FC Twente over the transfer of the 28-year-old, loads of Leeds fans took to Twitter to express their excitement.

Although Klich had no previous experience of playing in English football before, the outstanding standard that he set during his brief spell in the Eredivisie indicated that he had all the skills needed to thrive in the Championship.
However, after suffering a slow start to his career with the Whites in which he made just nine appearances in all competitions, the midfielder was loaned out to FC Utrecht in January 2018 where he would remain until the arrival of Marcelo Bielsa at Elland Road last summer.
Willing to give Klich another chance to prove himself at Leeds, the Argentine brought him back into the first team at the start of the 2018/19 campaign in a decision which turned out to be somewhat of a masterstroke.
During a stunning season for the Whites, the former Cracovia ace scored an impressive total of 10 goals whilst also providing nine assists for his team-mates as they reached the play-off semi-finals in the second tier.
Despite being powerless to prevent his side suffering a gut-wrenching defeat to Derby County on May 15th, Klich must take pride in his performances as it seems as if he has finally found himself a home with Leeds.
Undoubtedly playing the best football of his career to date, the midfielder could very well be the key to his side’s hopes of achieving promotion to the Premier League next season.
