Transfer flashback: Nottingham Forest sell Michail Antonio

There was never a dull moment when Michail Antonio was at the City Ground as he always managed to create plenty of excitement, with goals and assists ever-present.

However, fans couldn’t believe their eyes on the 1st of September 2015 as Nottingham Forest announced that Michail Antonio had joined Premier League side West Ham United.

It’s safe to say that a lot of fans were less than pleased with the Englishman’s departure, as they took to Twitter to express their disappointment over the announcement.

Nottingham Forest signed Michail Antonio for a reported fee of £1.5 million back in the summer of 2014.

Indeed, many fans warmed to Antonio quite quickly as he produced three goals and three assists in his first five Championship fixtures. Surprisingly, the Englishman started every single league game for Forest during his first season at the club as he produced 14 goals and 14 assists, as well as winning the club’s player of the season award.

It’s safe to say that the 28-year-old had established himself as Nottingham Forest’s star man after an excellent first season at the club. But, fans had to wave goodbye to the exciting winger on the 1st of September 2015 after witnessing him score two goals in four Championship fixtures, which made it even harder.

And, the fact that the club were under a transfer embargo at the time only added to the frustrations.

Nottingham Forest fans, do you still miss having Antonio in your side? Surely Joe Lolley has helped you move on…
