On July 13th 2018, Liverpool announced that they had signed Xherdan Shaqiri from Stoke City for a reported bargain fee of £13 million.
The Austrian has been an instant hit at Liverpool as he continues to play a big part in the Reds’ title push, with a number of crucial goals to his name already up until this point.
A lot of supporters were over the moon with the club’s decision to secure the services of Xherdan Shaqiri, as they took to Twitter to express their delight over the announcement.

Shaqiri is similar to Coutinho before Klopp arrived. Both capable of the odd thunderbolt and moments of magic but ultimately let down by their decision making and overall pretty ineffective as a result. Better players round him and a few tweeks and we got a very good player. #LFC

Xherdan Shaqiri spent time at FC Basel, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan and Stoke City prior to his move to Liverpool, but the Reds will be extremely glad to have him in their possession at this moment in time.
Indeed, the Austrian international has gone up a couple of levels since moving to Anfield, as he’s managed to find the back of the net six times and has produced three assists. His brace against Manchester United is arguably his most memorable memory as he came off the substitutes’ bench to secure all three points for his side.
The Reds triggered Shaqiri’s £13 million release clause and it’s safe to say that he’s proved to be a bargain signing as he’s already repaid the Merseyside club with his efforts this season. Shaqiri is an important cog in Jurgen Klopp’s machine at Liverpool, and it’s safe to say that they’d be worse off without him.
So, it comes as no surprise that fans were so delighted to see him join the club as he always had plenty of ability but he struggled to show it prior to his summer move. And, he’s already established himself as a fan favourite at Anfield, with his appearances in the side constantly helping the Reds get results over the line.
