With Sam Allardyce leaving Sunderland to take up the England job back in 2016, the club swiftly moved to replace him with David Moyes.
And despite unsuccessful stints with Manchester United and Real Sociedad, it was still an appointment that Sunderland supporters firmly backed, which is more than understandable.
Welcome, David. Best of luck to you. We’re right behind you, so do us proud

While his managerial spells at Old Trafford and in Spain did not go to plan, Moyes did a fantastic job at Everton giving the Sunderland faithful room to be optimistic.
However, any positivity fans had going into the 2016/17 Premier League campaign was soon crushed, with Sunderland quickly finding themselves engulfed in a relegation battle they could not escape.
The Black Cats were, of course, eventually relegated that season with Moyes departing at the end of it having opted against the idea of managing in the Championship at this stage of his career.
Ultimately, Sunderland’s appointment of Moyes was a disastrous one despite all of the expectation that came with it and it is a chapter supporters will be desperate to forget about.Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
