One of the shock transfers in the 2017 summer transfer window across all of Europe’s divisions came in the Championship when Wolves pulled off the signing of Ruben Neves from Porto.
Neves — a Portugal international — had previously been linked with the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool, but Molineux turned out to be the destination for the midfielder.
And his arrival at the club was one that had Wolves supporters absolutely buzzing.
Thank you for coming to our great club Ruben. Wishing you every success . #WelcomeRuben.

Considering Neves’ reputation as one of the most promising and talented midfielders in European football, the reaction of Wolves fans upon him joining the club was hardly surprising, and the former Porto man has not let them down.
He played an integral part in Wolves’ promotion to the Premier League with his excellent performances in the Championship, performances that left the Molineux faithful thoroughly entertained.
All six of the Portugal playmaker’s league goals came from outside the box including his stunning strike against Derby County which won Championship Goal of the Month for April, while his distribution of the ball was worth the admission fee alone.
Now playing his football in the Premier League, Neves has been key to the brilliant start Wolves have made to this campaign, dictating play from deep and spraying passes all over the pitch.
Having adapted to life in English football so well, Neves’ name has again been touted for a transfer to one of the Premier League elite with Manchester City and Manchester United the latest clubs rumoured to be interested in his services (via Goal).
Given Neves signed a new five-year deal during the summer, though, there is little reason for Wolves fans to panic just yet over their star man, who has brought so much joy since joining the club.
