Garry Monk has done a terrific job at St Andrew’s this season with limited resources available. One of Birmingham’s free signings, Jacques Maghoma, has played a big part under the Englishman.
Gary Rowett secured the services of Maghoma for absolutely nothing back in the summer of 2015.
Interestingly, lots of supporters were over the moon with the club’s decision to bring the winger to St Andrew’s, as fans took to Twitter to express their sheer delight.

Maghoma linked up with former manager Gary Rowett at St Andrew’s in June 2015.
He got off to a rather impressive start in the Midlands as he scored the opening goal in the League Cup visit to Bristol Rovers. Indeed, his performances in the side helped him secure a regular place and he went on to produce six goals and two assists during his first season at the club, which saw Birmingham finishing in 10th position.
Demarai Gray’s departure gave Maghoma the opportunity to really make a name for himself, but he wasn’t quite able to reach his full potential as he spent a period of time out of the side during his second season.
The winger enjoyed arguably his best season in the blue shirt last time out as he produced five goals and eight assists in all competitions. Although, the one thing that let him down at times was his finishing ability in the final third, which still hasn’t really improved to this day.
However, he’s established himself as one of the standout performers under Garry Monk with his pace and power constantly causing problems for the opposition. His tally currently stands at six goals and five assists and there’s still two games to go, so he could set for his best season yet in terms of stats.
He’s getting on with age and his contract is set to expire in the summer of 2020, but if he continues to impress and doesn’t show any signs of tiring then he could be in line for a new deal.
