In the last two transfer windows, Tottenham have not signed a single player.
However, it is unlikely to be a hat-trick with AC Milan’s Franck Kessie just one name currently being linked with a move to White Hart Lane (or Wembley) in the summer.
Tuttomercatoweb (via CalcioMercato) reports Tottenham have scouted the Ivorian midfielder in previous weeks with the middle of the park one area of Mauricio Pochettino’s squad that could do with some strengthening.
Mousa Dembele, of course, recently departed for China, leaving a hole in Tottenham’s squad when it comes to the midfield department.
It is a hole, however, that Kessie seems more than capable of filling. All things considered, the 22-year-old might just be the ideal replacement for Dembele in the engine room.
Kessie, a midfielder who looks up to the likes of Yaya Toure and Javier Zanetti (Football Italia via Corriere dello Sport), would bring plenty of power and energy to this Tottenham side like the way the Belgian did.
He has the stamina to run box-to-box for 90 minutes and the strength and skill to drive through the opposition’s lines with the ball.
Unlike Dembele, though, Kessie is also a midfielder who can be a bit of an attacking threat once he takes up positions near the other team’s box.
He can put some serious venom behind his shots to trouble the goalkeeper, an aspect of his game that could help him to one day become a complete box-to-box midfielder.
This season, it once again looks like Tottenham will come up short in the title race. To better their chances, the north London club need reinforcements with Kessie being a name who could really get the ball rolling at White Hart Lane.
